Copart or Ridesafely. Which one is reliable?

I want to buy a salvaged vehicle at a discount price so im going to use an online auction. Ridesafely.com is free to make an account but i never really heard of it before. Copart seems more legit as it is well known. There is a registration fee for copart but i rather pay a little cash and get my car instead of getting ripped off from ridesafely. I have seen the exact same car on both sites but ridesafely’s “current bid” was thousands of dollars higher than Copart’s was. After the auction was over i checked out the “virtual sale replay” feature on copart to see that the vehicle sold for $2800 in california. Its odd because the exact same car sold for $4300 on Ridesafely. Did someone getting ripped off? All i want to know is what auction site is more safe. So far im thinking copart is the way to go.

    I work for Copart.

First off, in order to buy in most states, you need to be a licensed dealer, dismantler, wholesaler, importer or exporter. there are very few copart yards that sell to the general population.

Second, its not a “site” you are buying cars from, We have 145 domestic locations, as well as 13 yards in the UK. Copart is a publicly traded company (CPRT) and has been in business for 26 years. You are welcome to go to any Copart location and preview the vehicles the day before the actual sale – as long as you are a registered buyer with the company.

We are the worlds largest remarketers of insurance-total cars and thef recoveries. Copart also works with some lenders to remarket reposessed vehicles in some markets. We work with local auto dealers to remarket their trades.

Lastly, if you don’t know what you are doing, you will not want to jump into this. The vast majority of the cars there are total-loss insurance writeoffs. Unless you have a frame straightener, and extensive mechanical, P&B, electrical and trim experience, you can get in way over your head.

Did someone get ripped off? Ridesafely is a dealer. Copart is a remarketer who sells to dealers. Dealers buy from Copart and mark the vehicles up to make a profit when they resell them. Its normal business. Ridesafely auctioned the car. The only way it gets to 4300 is if one person was willing to pay 4250, and someone else outbid him. So if they got “ripped off” whose fault would that be?? They set their own price.
