is it ok if a salvage car has no VIN # on the engine?

i saw this honda civic for sale and stop to check it out but found out that the engine doesnt have a vin # the guy said it was because it is a salvage car and diferent parts are used to rebuild the car… is that true??

No,if you try to register a salvage car in california they will want a vin # for the engine, transmission, and body.

if you have the salvage title in hand you can register it sometime cars need part to run in this case the motor is differnet all that the VIN# is for is to make sure that the car has no stolen parts or the car it self is not stolen

    Avoid this car completely.

A frankenstein car ( one built from scrap parts) is not a car you should be considering. Look elsewhere, there are hundreds of Civics for sale don’t pick the junk yard car.
