The Furai, which celebrates 40 years of Mazda’s rotary engine and international motorsports heritage is seen here in full intimate detail. Furai is the latest in the Nagare design series from Mazda introduced at the 2008 Detroit AutoShow (NAIAS). Based on a US Le Mans race series Courage C65 chassis and featuring a 3 rotor rotary engine fueled by ethanol. Hear the full sound these rotors make in this intimate video.

The 787B was not banned due to being ‘too good’. One win(and a couple podiums) out of 21 races is hardly going to qualify it as ‘too good’. Wankels were banned because of the ever tightening FIA rules. The FIA wanted teams to use homogenised(formulaic) F1 engines. There are no Wankels in Formula One, hence the ban based on the grounds that it would be impossible to retool the motor to meet spec. The car has its place in history, just as any LM winner. There are better, and there are worse cars.

Thats because it is running a very similar motor but the 787B used a 4 rotor motor was was banned from racing because it was too good.
